Founded in 1977, Northern BC Centre for Skating provides comprehensive skill development in accordance with the Sport Canada and Skate Canada Long Term Athlete Development Model. All levels of ice skaters are supported through a team of northern BC's most highly qualified National Coaching Certification Program professional coaches. The Centre encourages physical, emotional and social growth and promotes achievement through a positive learning environment and teamwork.
Learn to Skate
CanSkate is Skate Canada’s flagship learn-to-skate program for beginners of any age that teaches fundamental movements and basic skills.
Hockey and Ringette
CanPowerSkate focuses on balance, power, agility, speed and endurance skills, all of which are especially important for hockey and ringette players.
Figure Skating
STARSkate offers opportunities to develop figure skating skills in four different areas. CompetitiveSkate incorporates a series of tests and other training opportunities to help competitors with potential to advance.
AdultSkate
Adult skating is growing in popularity and recreational, test and competitive opportunities are available. Adults participate in CanSkate, STARSkate as well as CanPowerSkate programs. Adult skaters can also enjoy experiencing the challenge of a competition in a fun, social environment.
